Before any scheduled surgical procedure, our anesthesiologists:

• Conduct a detailed medical evaluation to assess the patient’s overall health and fitness for surgery.
• Identify and address any underlying health conditions, ensuring all potential risks are minimised.
• Collaborate with specialists, such as cardiologists and pulmonologists, especially for patients over the age of 45 or those with pre-existing conditions.
• Discuss the planned anesthesia method with the patient, answering any questions and providing clear, reassuring guidance.

Our goal is to ensure that every patient feels confident and fully prepared before their procedure.

During surgery, our anesthesiologists:

• Provide continuous monitoring of vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and more.
• Maintain stable conditions for the surgeon to perform effectively.
• Manage pain control and ensure antimicrobial prophylaxis to reduce the risk of surgical wound infections.
• Adapt to any changes in the patient’s condition, ensuring the highest level of safety at all times.

After surgery, our care doesn’t stop. Our anesthesiologists:

• Oversee the patient’s transition from anesthesia, ensuring a smooth and comfortable recovery.
• Manage postoperative pain using modern pain-relief techniques, allowing patients to recover more comfortably.
• Monitor for any potential complications, ensuring timely intervention if needed.

Our Anesthesia Department provides two primary types of anesthesia:

1. General Anesthesia: The patient is fully unconscious and unaware during the procedure.
2. Regional Anesthesia: Includes spinal or epidural anesthesia, where only a specific area of the body is numbed while the patient remains conscious.

The choice of anesthesia is made collaboratively by the anesthesiologist and the surgeon, taking into account:

• The type and location of the surgery.
• The patient’s overall health and medical history.
• The expected duration of the procedure.
