  A)Gastroenterology

  • Fully competent in management of patients with general Gastrointestinal (GI) problems and especially IBD. Two outpatients clinics per week (One General Gastroenterology and one IBD clinic). Co-operation with the Specialist Gastroenterology Nurses.
  • Supervising endoscopy list and  contribution in endoscopy teaching of  the trainees. .
  • Participation in the Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Service meetings and contribution in the development of the department.
  • Lectures to the GPs, regarding the management of various GI problems in the primary  care.

B) Hepatology

  • Fully competent in management of patients with chronic liver disease and especially with viral hepatitis.

Performed a sizable number of diagnostic and  therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopies. Participation  in  research  protocols. Working  on  my  PhD.

Management  of  Ward  patients and  experience  in  Outpatient  Clinics , regarding  patients  with  inflammatory  bowel  disease, chronic  viral  hepatitis, cirrhosis,  chronic  pancreatitis, nutritional problems, as well as, liver  and  pancreatic  cancer.

Many On-Calls in General / Internal Medicine (2/week), covering the A&E department as well as, Ward patients.

Significant experience in the management of patients with various types of acute medical problems, including Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Haematology, Renal Medicine, Chest Medicine, Oncology, Rheumatology, and  Infectious Diseases.

Complete  successfully the  training  in  diagnostic and interventional  endoscopy (diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopies, capsule endoscopies polypectomies, band ligations, endoscopic haemostases of bleeding peptic ulcers, ERCPs).Also experience in oesophageal manometry.

  1. a) Gastroenterology
  • Fully competent in the management of Ward  and  outpatient clinic patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal (including IBD) and liver diseases.
  • Many outpatient clinics (General Gastroenterology, IBD, Hepatology), consultation of referrals from other medical specialties.

b)Internal  Medicine

  • Fully competent in management of patients with Acute Medical problems, as I have been trained in Internal Medicine for 6 years in two busy teaching Hospitals in Nicosia, Cyprus covering patients with cardiological, haematological, renal, respiratory, oncological problems as well as infectious diseases.
  •  Two General Medicine On-Calls / Week for all over the period of my Higher Medical Training (6 years).
  1. c) Endoscopy

 

Fully competent in diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopies

I  have  performed :

  • More than 4000 upper GI endoscopies ( OGD )
  • More than 3000  colonoscopies (with intubation of cecum > 97%)
  • 300 polypectomies.
  • 20 banding  ligations / ensoscopic glue injection for  gastro-esophageal 
  • 100 endoscopic heamostases  of  bleeding  peptic 

 

 

I  have  participated  in  ERCPs, esophageal  manometry, as  well  as,  in  capsule  endoscopy.

 

Teaching experience

 In Greece, as a Specialist Registrar in Gastroenterology I taught the 6th-year Medical Students in terms of various topics from Gastroenterology and Hepatology. At the same time I gave lectures to the Registrars and SHOs of Internal Medicine, regarding Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, and also  I  ran Postgraduate Seminars for Gastroenterology Registrars, regarding  “hot  topics”  of  Gastroenterology.

  I am submitting my PhD : “The role of adiponectin , leptin ,apelin and visfatin in HCV ,HBV  patients compared to controls” 1st  Department of  Propaedeutic  Internal  Medicine,  “Laiko”  Hospital, Athens University School of Medicine, Greece (Supervisor : Associate Prof. Mrs  I.   3. Retrospective study regarding the presence and clinical significance of insulin resistance in cirrhotics.
